Animoca Brands appoints Ex-Gemini Finance Chief as CFO
Venture capital company Animoca Brands has appointed Jared Shaw, ex-Gemini Finance Chief, as its new CFO alongside other executives.

Animoca Brands recently unveiled Jared Shaw as the company’s new CFO. He was previously the head of finance and cryptocurrency and NFT platform at Gemini. Upon his appointment by Animoca Brands, he will oversee and support the strategic and financial direction of Animoca Brands alongside its over 380 portfolio companies.
Over the past two decades, he has amassed experience across traditional finance, fintech and cryptocurrency sectors. Before his appointment at Gemini, he was a financial service and fintech consultant at Ernst & Young. He was also one of the founding members of EY’s fintech consulting division.
He has also worked at Goldman Sachs in fixed income portfolio management and Prudential Financial as an internal auditor. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Other Appointments by Animoca Brands
The company has also hired May Szeto, a senior HR executive with 20 years of APAC regional experience in the real estate industry and financial institutions. She will develop and lead Animoca’s group HR functions, driving people strategy and transformation efforts. She has worked as the head of HR, Asia for Grosvenor Property. She has also worked with J.P. Morgan Chase Bank, Nomura Securities, MGPA (now part of Blackrock) and Bloomberg L.P. in various regional senior HR roles.
Jamil Quoc has also been appointed head of legal-commercial and M&A, where she will be responsible for managing the legal team and advising commercial and investment transactions for the group. She has over 20 years of legal experience as an M&A/PE lawyer.
Samuel Tse has been appointed to the role of M&A director, and he will be responsible for driving the company’s strategic investment, M&A and joint venture efforts. Josh Du has been appointed to be Head of the digital assets portfolio; he will manage Animoca Brands' digital asset treasury, balance sheet optimization and yielding activities, group market making and trading operations.
