LG is bringing the metaverse to every living room in partnership with Oorbit

Oorbit, a cloud-based 3D metaverse platform, has teamed up with LG Electronics to bring interoperable virtual worlds to smart TVs. Through this partnership, both companies will develop immersive games and experiences that consumers can easily interact with in the metaverse.

The exciting announcement came when LG presented its latest innovation at the CES 2023 event on Wednesday. The deal will see Oorbit providing interoperable virtual worlds to LG TVs - a huge step forward in making the metaverse more accessible.

"At LG, we take pride in driving innovation and bringing new, personalized experiences to consumers, allowing them to easily interact," said Jung Sung-hyun, head of content service division at LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company, in a statement. "And we are pleased we can achieve that now once again thanks to Oorbit's vision to give open access to metaverse experiences in one place on our TVs."

Oorbit is a metaverse technology company that seeks to bring 3D internet to the masses using TVs, computers, and mobile devices. Using cloud streaming technology, users can enjoy high-fidelity interconnected virtual worlds and experiences, such as virtual concerts on Elynxir from Pixelynx and AI generative multiplayer games on Auxworld from Auxuman.

Commenting on how interoperable metaverse works in LG TVs, Oorbit CEO Ash Koosha said: "Imagine playing with a map you bought for one game and taking that same item into a concert where it becomes your backstage pass. Translatable digital ownership is possible with virtual worlds that are connected through Oorbit."

He added: "Our goal is for users to have access to boundless streams of entertaining content through the devices they already own. Our partnership with LG will dramatically speed up our journey toward that goal."

Oorbit has been working on the foundation and infrastructure required to create the metaverse for almost a decade. According to Oorbit CTO Pooya Koosha, its proprietary technology makes it easier for developers and brands to bring their experiences into the virtual realm. Scaling the company's technology for millions of LG TV customers is the next step in making the metaverse accessible for all.
