Guess what? PUBG is finally dipping its toes into blockchain gaming

PUBG Battlegrounds, a prominent battle royale game by PUBG Studios, has teamed up with Web3 platform Banger to launch an Alpha NFT test. This partnership will see the popular title introduce NFTs into its ecosystem, thus making its first foray into blockchain gaming

To begin, Banger is a Web3 gaming hub that allows popular games to integrate NFTs into their ecosystems. Players can currently sign up for the Banger PUBG Alpha test and receive a special, non-tradeable digital collectible.

Early supporters can look forward to taking part in at least three game modes below when the Banger Alpha launches in 2023:

  • Mad Max: Players will be given the license to kill and gather points for each kill to climb the leaderboard. Those going for the headshots will get extra points.
  • Kill Frenzy: In this all-hell-break-loose mode, players will grab a car and run over as many people as they can to secure their kills. Too much gore? No worries. You can always check out the next game mode.
  • Ghost Killer: Here, instead of close combats, players will use a sniper rifle to get their kills from as far away as possible to earn the most points. Your top 10 best results in each game mode will be counted to determine your ranking.

"This Alpha is going to prove that players of games like PUBG can now benefit from platforms like ours without the need to make an initial investment or see their gaming experience altered," said Nicolas Gonzalez, the Chief Product Officer at Banger.

"As with previous platform test runs, we expect another full house in this ALPHA thanks to our new extra features, and especially our Limited Digital Collectibles that we want our users to own and wear in recognition for being a part of creating Banger from the very beginning."

By collaborating with a "white-label" platform like Banger, PUBG won't have to build or integrate its own NFTs. Instead, it only has to rely on Banger to handle the blockchain side of things.

Developed by PUBG Studios and published by Krafton, PUBG currently has over 280 million players per month. Imagine the number of mainstream gamers to be onboarded to Web3 if the game chooses to embrace blockchain tech.
