There just seems to be no end to the continuous onslaught of new partnerships with The Sandbox. The metaverse platform has now partnered up with Thunderbirds, a British sci-fi show known for its use of “Supermarionation,” a filming technique which makes use of “marionettes and scale models to create a world never seen before on television.”

This style was invented by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson, who are also actually the creators of the TV show as well. The series is about a secret organization called “International Rescue” which is tasked with saving people’s lives while using vehicles titled “The Thunderbirds”. Now, thanks to this new partnership, Thunderbirds: International Rescue Club will be a “real-world rescue organization” with The Sandbox working in collaboration with British Web3 company Reality+ to take the 1960s TV series into the metaverse.

“This collaboration is the first step in taking the world of International Rescue into the new generation with metaverse avatars, charity DAOs, NFT drops and Web 3.0 online experiences. F-A-B!”

The Medium post says that sales of avatars and other assets related to Thunderbirds will be used to “fund a charity DAO that will help people around the world,” and that’s not all. Eventually, there will also be a Web3 game called Thunderbirds: Rescue Missions, in which players will be able to “send their Thunderbird NFTs off on missions to earn real-world prizes and airdrops.”

More info will be revealed in the future. A couple of days ago, The Sandbox teamed up with the company behind football manga and anime Captain Tsubasa, as well as with news magazine TIME, to come to the voxel-based metaverse in various different ways.
