Aavegotchi Announces Gotchichain Q3 Launch, Powered by Polygon Supernets
News

Pixelcraft Studios, the team behind the Aavegotchi Protocol, has officially announced that their blockchain called Gotchichain is planned to be officially launched in early Q3 this year.

This blockchain, which is designed to be a home for everything related to playable Aavegotchi NFTs, will be powered by Polygon’s Supernets technology. Supernets represent are like a new layer on the popular Ethereum-based network; each Supernet is a blockchain on which anyone can make transactions, while only the developers of the blockchain are allowed to deploy smart contracts on the network. Each of these networks can have their own gas token, while users get to enjoy lower fees, faster transaction times and the same security of the Polygon network, while developers reap better scalability and get to create their own dedicated hub for their projects.

The Head of DeFi at Polygon, Hamzah Khan, said the following in the official blog post:

"We are thrilled to partner with Aavegotchi to bring gaming to the next level. Polygon's Supernets technology will enable Aavegotchi to create a blockchain optimized for gaming, providing users with the ultimate NFT gaming experience."

On the Gotchichain, gamers will get to enjoy all Aavegotchi-related content in a dedicated, user-friendly environment, while paying for transaction fees using the core “eco-governance” token, $GHST, as a gas token. Speaking of $GHST, it has recently undergone a tokenomics shift, officially ending the bonding curve.

The developers have clarified in the announcement that, while assets will continue to be minted on Polygon, anyone who wishes to use them on the new chain will be able to simply bridge them over.

The COO of Pixelcraft Studios, Jesse Johnson, added:

"We are excited to partner with Polygon and leverage its Supernets technology to create a gaming blockchain that will provide a superior user experience for our community. We are excited about the potential of this partnership and the opportunities it will bring to our community. We believe that by utilizing Polygon's Supernets technology, we can create a gaming blockchain that will revolutionize the blockchain gaming industry and provide the ultimate experience for players and developers worldwide."

In an effort to encourage developers to create Aavegotchi-themed dApps and games on this upcoming gaming-focused Supernet, the company is funding their own Game Developers Program, for which more info will be revealed in the future.
