Aavegotchi Reveals 2023 “Year of the Gotchi” Roadmap
News

Pixelcraft Studios has recently the 2023 “Year of the Gotchi” roadmap for Aavegotchi, an open-source NFT gaming protocol on the Polygon network.

For this year, the gaming company will be primarily focusing their efforts on player growth and decentralization. The former takes into account simplifying onboarding users, developing games and making new features, while the latter is about completely moving ownership of the Aavegotchi NFT Gaming protocol smart contracts over to AavegotchiDAO.

In order to successfully do the latter, the migration has to go through a 3-stage process: Genesis, Metamorphosis and Oasis, or v1.0, v2.0 and v3.0 respectively. There is also a 4th phase in-between the first two called Cocoon (v1.5), which resembles the state that AavegotchiDAO is currently at.

Continuing this process of decentralization requires the formation of the AavegotchiDAO Foundation, a non-profit Cayman foundation suggested by Pixelcraft Studios last year and accepted by the DAO. This foundation is expected to be integrated early this year, and is being introduced in order to provide legal protection, as without it, the members of AavegotchiDAO “face legal risk from ever-encroaching regulations in various jurisdictions.”

On-chain smart contract execution is being implemented this year in an effort to provide true decentralization and thus have the DAO progress onto the Metamorphosis phase.

In the roadmap, the team has also suggested the idea of turning off the $GHST Bonding Curve, “effectively decoupling GHST from DAI, fixing its supply, and making it a free-floating token.” Whether this will happen or not depends on what the DAO votes for.

When it comes to The Gotchiverse, the team has stated that they will continue to expand “key roadmap features” of the social-farming metaverse, which include questing, Estates, the Gotchiverse SDK,  the Great Portal area, the Aarena, Gotchi Lodge and the Great Battles.

The developers have also announced a new Aavegotchi-themed title that will bring Aavegotchi NFTs into 3D form. This game is currently called Gotchi Guardians, and it’s a cross-platform mobile survival game where players will get to fight “the Lickquidators in a high-stakes defense of the Great Portal, where the winners take all.”

While the name is subject to change, Gotchi Guardians will be the first flagship title to launch on Gotchichain, a hub for Aavegothchi-themed games and dapps that will utilize Polygon’s Supernet technology. Pixelcraft Studios is partnering with Polygon to be one of the first to use their Supernet technology. Supernets are essentially extensions of the Polygon network on which users can make transactions, but not everyone can deploy contracts, thus eliminating potential traffic jams that networks such as Polygon can experience.
