Animoca Brands Partners with Dorna Sports to Sponsor Grand Prix Events in Aragon and Australia
The partnership with Dorna Sports will see Animoca Brands support the world-renowned events in Australia and Aragon in 2022 and 2023.
Animoca Brands announced yesterday that it would be the title sponsor of MotoGPTM in Australia and Aragon. This move will be in partnership with Dorna Sports, a renowned MotoGPTM partner and organizer of other leading motorcycle championships. This collaboration will see the two events officially named the Animoca Brands Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix and Gran Premio Animoca Brands de Aragon, respectively.
The Executive Chairman and Co-founder of Animoca Brands, Yat Siu, commented:
“We are incredibly pleased to deepen our relationship with Dorna Sports as we take over the title sponsorship for MotoGPTM Grand Prix Events. There is no more distinguished brand in the world of professional motorcycle racing than MotoGP, and we are proud to provide our sponsorship and inclusion into the REVV Motorsport ecosystem.”
In 2019, Animoca Brands came into partnership with MotoGPTM when it was granted rights to produce the first MotoGP-based NFTs. This partnership birthed MotoGPTM ignition, a management and collectibles blockchain game platform that is part of the REVV Motorsport ecosystem.
This platform will allow users to buy and sell limited-edition NFTs based on the MotoGP games, such as their champions, bikes, and riders. It will also provide a sophisticated racing manager game and a card-based fantasy sports game, which are expected to be ready this year.
The Senior director of Global Partnerships at Dorna Sports, Marc Saurina, praised the partnership and expressed readiness to collaborate with Animoca Brands in the events and beyond. Dorna Sports was founded in 1988 and became the organizer of the MotoGPTM in 1999.
