Decentralized Education System

Animoca Brands announced the acquisition of TinyTap, a user-generated educational content developer, in June. The two are now collaborating to develop a new Web3-focused approach that aims to expand chances for educators across the world to make money from the content they generate while also providing parents with more learning options for their children.

Opportunity for Teachers and NFT Holders

TinyTap educators may already earn money for creating content by getting a percentage of the Platform's subscription revenue. However, the deployment of digital property rights permitted by Web3 will now allow for a broader choice of business models, including Publisher NFTs.

Moving along, the NFT auction appears to be only the first step towards harnessing Web3 technology to develop an alternative decentralized education system capable of equitably supporting and compensating teachers.

Each Publisher NFT represents a shared publishing right in a course, which is a set of resources for teaching a specific topic created by a teacher on the Platform. Moreover, the digital asset will allow teachers to sell the publishing rights to their course, and holders of NFTs will have the option to become co-publishers alongside the teacher who originally generated the content.

The earnings of the Publisher NFT auction will be split between the Platform and the teachers. Teachers will also get a royalty on any secondary sales of the NFTs and 10% of future income produced by their courses.

NFT holders can further choose to market their Courses on TinyTap and split money generated through the Platform's subscription model, or they can use their NFTs to disseminate the Courses through alternative channels. That way, they'll keep up to 80% of the money they make from their own marketing in the future.
