Animoca Brands Partners with Weebox to Support Officially-Licensed Anime Figurine & Collectibles Store
Animoca Brands Japan will be supporting Weebox, the official figurine and collectibles store of San FranTokyo, in their endeavor to bring major Japan studios into Web3 through officially-licensed partnerships with figurine companies, major manga publishers, and animation studios.
Animoca Brands and Animoca Brands Japan have partnered with and invested in Weebox, an officially-licensed anime figurine & collectibles store of San FranTokyo, a virtual city of “convergence and creation,” to support its efforts of bringing traditional major companies to Web3.
Considering Daisuke Iwase is both the CEO of Animoca Brands Japan and KLKTN, an NFT platform powering SFT Studios, the Web3 company working on Weebox, it comes as no surprise then to see all these sides team up to create a platform that aims to house major manga publishers, animation studios, and figurine companies, bringing both digital and physical collectibles to the realm of Web3 thanks to Weebox’s officially-licensed partnerships.
This store is set to be at the heart of San FranTokyo, which will act as an anime, manga, and pop culture metaverse, serving as a “backdrop to the birth of subcultures and communities.” Essentially, Weebox is on a mission to become the “Web3 Hasbro + Nintendo.” By having Animoca Brands and Animoca Brands Japan on board as partners and investors, Weebox is able to forge strong relations with various significant studios and publishers in Japan.
According to the FAQ for Weebox, a Genesis Mint is planned to take place sometime in August this year. It’s also stated that this Genesis San FranTokyo Pass is actually a free mint on the Ethereum network. The supply will be 2000, with the minting split into 3 stages: Approved Community Application Allow List, Collaborations and Contests Allow List, and Public Mint. The first one is a guaranteed mint stage, while the second is a first come first serve stage. If there are any leftover Passes from the first stage, they’ll be moved over to the second stage, and if not all of them get sold in the second stage, then they’ll be moved to the Public Mint.
