Animoca Brands purchases 100% of game company Notre Game
The newly-acquired company is working on a play-to-earn NFT card game called Scratch Lords, having previously made Scratch Wars, a successful and innovative physical and digital hybrid mobile card game.
Animoca Brands has announced the acquisition of Notre Game, a game development company and publisher based in Prague, Czech Republic.
Founded in 2016, the studio is known for Scratch Wars, an “innovative hybrid physical-digital collectible card mobile game,” in which players use scannable “scratchable paper cards” to play offline and online.
Co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca, Yat Sui, said:
“We were impressed by the innovation and boldness that Notre Game demonstrated with its physical-virtual hybrid game model. The company has a solid team with strong leadership and the kind of experience and mindset that we are looking for in our mission to contribute to the establishment of the open metaverse.”
The game designer and CEO of Notre Game, Jiří Mikoláš, commented the following:
“Thanks to the vision of Animoca Brands, we now have the opportunity to show our ideas to the whole world, marking an important culmination of our game development efforts after years of hard work.”
Animoca has completely bought 100% of the Prague-based company. The new subsidiary is now developing a play-to-earn NFT title called Scratch Lords, which is based on their previously mentioned successful game that managed to accrue €2 million while only being available in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Animoca Brands certainly isn’t slowing down with its investments, having recently completed the acquisition of Darewise Entertainment, a company with experienced AAA developers who are working on Life Beyond, a play-and-earn MMORPG.
