Applications for Decentraland Music Festival ’23 Are Now Open
Artists and creators are encouraged to send proposals and examples of previous work for a chance to be selected for Decentraland Music Festival ’23, with applications closing on September 30th. The main virtual event will take from November 16th to November 18th.
Decentraland, one of the oldest blockchain-based metaverses around, has opened applications for Music Festival ’23, for which artists and creators have until September 30th to apply to.
What is the Decentraland Music Festival?
The Decentraland Music Festival is a yearly virtual event in which participants can creatively express themselves in the metaverse. By being selected to participate as an artist or creator, you’ll be awarded with a USD grant and other goodies to help you get ready for the event that will officially take place in November.
For this year, the virtual event is inspired by the theme of Rebirth & Regeneration, aiming to embrace the “core values of radical self-expression, communal growth, and artistic renewal.” The main Music Festival event will take place from November 16th to November 18th.
Decentraland Music Festival ’23 Details
From the official announcement on Twitter/X, you’ll find 2 different links through which you can apply: one for artists and another for creators.
If you’re a musician, group, or sound artist, you’re encouraged to apply through the artist category, where accepted applicants will receive a $500 USD grant and promotion in the main event program. Performances are set to be streamed digitally to virtual stages, and the program is open to all genres, though priority is given to artists whose proposal is in line with this year’s theme. Applying requires submitting a proposal alongside examples of previous work – if selected, you’ll have until October 25th to submit a pre-recorded performance made specifically for the virtual festival and not shared anywhere else.
For the creator category, game studios, design studios, 3D creators, artist collaborations, brands, and NFT projects are able to apply. When applying to this category, you’ll have to submit 3-5 examples from your portfolio, as well as give a short proposal about the 3D installation, interactive game or experience you’d like to create. A total of 5 proposals will be selected, awarding each with $1000 USD, listings in the official program for this event, a 2x2 plot of LAND in Decentraland’s Music Festival Plaza for the event and one month after, and a Decentraland NAME that will give you access to unlimited virtual LAND in Worlds you can use “for future builds or further installations.”
There is no entry fee for either category.
