Newly-founded gaming studio Avalon has released a beautiful teaser trailer for their upcoming multi-genre MMO, showing pre-alpha in-game footage made using the Unreal Engine.

While the company may refer to this as a teaser trailer, this minute and a half footage of pre-alpha gameplay is probably much more than what you usually get to see from a teaser. The team’s goal of creating a multi-genre interoperable MMO can be seen in-between the stunning cinematics displaying dazzling greenery. The trailer shows us a glimpse of city-building gameplay, teasing the ability to create your own worlds using assets owned by you. These assets will be authenticated by the company through the game’s DAO, according to the video description. This user-driven economy will enable players to create and trade equipment, resources, land, and more.
Since building mechanics will be in place, that means we can expect to see some creative user-created worlds. Players will be able to make their own levels too, forming their own stories for many others to experience, like a tabletop RPG. Since the ecosystem will be interoperable, you’ll also be able import and export items between worlds, games, and platforms.
Next to this creative side of the game, players will also get to enjoy the kind of gameplay they’d expect to see in an MMO. Players will get to explore diverse environments and take on dungeons while crafting better gear, finding rare loot, leveling up and competing in PvP.
Next to the Unreal Engine, the game also utilizes technologies from their partners, Didimo and Inworld. Didimo houses a 3D character creation platform called Popul8, while Inworld brings an AI-driven character engine to the fore, making it possible to mold AI NPCs that feature contextual awareness multiple ways of expressing personality.
