Battle Island's “Ghosts of Ruin” is coming to Gala Film

Last week, Gala Film struck an exclusive partnership with Battle Island. The red hot collab will see the studio debut its first Web3 animated series “Ghosts of Ruin” on Gala Film by 2023. Despite being an indie film, many can't wait to watch it already. In fact, the show's trailer gained more than 40k views in less than a week!

To sum up, “Ghosts of Ruin” is an animated TV series that explores gaming through a world of advanced tech. Set against a dystopian backdrop, players can feel every action in a virtual game called Ruin. However, all hell breaks loose when a rogue program turns up. Coupled with a compelling storyline, the title aims to be an edge-of-the-seat thriller for all. If you haven't watched it, here's the 1-minute trailer of the film:

Not just an animated film

According to PJ Accetturo, CEO of Battle Island, the series started off as an exploration into mental health issues in our society. By connecting to deeper themes, “Ghosts of Ruin” also touches on the importance of staying connected in the midst of digital isolation.

Within the plot, Ryan Ramsey, co-creator of Ghosts of Ruin even recreated some of his experiences working in a mental health facility. With that, he hopes it will encourage more people to “cherish their own health" and show compassion to those with mental illnesses.

Given the hype though, we wonder if “Ghosts of Ruin” will become the first Web3 flick to go live on Gala Film. Some fans have already bought the Gala Film Pass in anticipation of the new film. But before you “ape in", keep in mind that details are pretty scarce. Hopefully, Gala Film can unveil more on how watch-to-earn works, before the TV series hit the scene next year.
