Nox, the CEO of PvP tower defense game BattleMancers has explained in a recent Medium post how the play-to-earn model for the Ethereum-based title works.

The founder talked about how the game’s tokenomics are “designed to keep the game populated, rewarding and with minimal inflation.” In this game, Nox says all players, both free-to-play players and those playing with an NFT, will be able to earn the same amount of rewards. In fact, free-to-play players don’t even need to connect an Ethereum wallet address to start playing, making the game highly accessible. The difference however is that, while playing for free does still allow you to earn as much as those who paid for an NFT, that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to withdraw those rewards for free. Everything gained will be usable to further progress in the game, but to actually be able to cash out any of those rewards, that will require either purchasing a BattleMancers Genesis NFT, of which there are only 10,000 in existence, or renting one.

The article also states that the game’s token has had no presale, no VC funding and no private investors. When it comes to in-game items, Nox has stated that these in-game NFTs represent consumables, lootboxes and cards, and will not increase the supply of the Genesis NFT collection.

The game uses a dual-token economy: the main BattleMancer Gem (BTMG) capped at a 1 billion supply, and the uncapped BattleMancer Coin (BTMC). The former can be earned as a leaderboard reward but also by selling NFTs and staking Genesis NFT, and aside from being used to buy NFTs, can also be spent on cosmetics, creating guilds, XP passes and more. As for BTMC, it can be used for things such as buying and upgrading in-game cards, cosmetics and slot expansion, while earning it is possible through lootboxes, season passes and trophy rewards.

BattleMancers is currently available in alpha on the game’s website.
