Colonize Mars Announces Exciting Realism Update
News

The Colonize Mars team has recently announced the Realism Update, introducing huge new changes to their blockchain-based simulation game that come from months of work of focusing on creating a long-term plan for their realistic play-to-earn title.

In the announcement, not only did the developers reveal significant updates to the closed beta version of the game, but they also unveiled Made For Mars, described as a “bioastronautics” company that is developing “solutions for humans to thrive on Mars,” with the blockchain title being at “the center of this endeavor.” This means that by playing their game, you’re actually contributing to real research for colonizing Mars, with the team saying that each move made in the game is tracked by their “Mars Data Engine that drives real R&D of mission-ready solutions for Mars.” According to the official website, they’re also the first company utilizing a simulation game for the colonization of Mars, while the Mars Data Engine not only “aggregates real-time planetary data” and “the latest scientific thinking,” but it also takes into account everything done by players in the game, thus not affecting gameplay but also helping “lead real-world R&D.”

In order to effectively support these ambitious endeavors, the studio has introduced a new digital economy to the game, one that is powered by MARTIA, the game’s core token that is tradable on the Alcor Exchange via the WAX blockchain, allowing players to be rewarded with this token for the actions they make in the game. With that, the closed beta has also been updated with huge changes that come as a result of months of work with scientists on collecting accurate data on “the actual production and consumption rates of resources on Mars.”

One of these changes include introducing dynamic input and output numbers, meaning that fixed input and output numbers per 1 collection strength are no more. Through this new method of calculation, which is based on the proper number of resources produced and consumed by every item, the team aims to provide players with a “more realistic resource chain.”

In order to encourage players to work together and avoid focusing on just one resource, the team has brought in a change that makes base cards more powerful when there are more ownerships of a certain type within the colony, with the team also mentioning however that the “more collection strength of that item is in circulation, the less powerful they become.”
