Company named Meta Sues Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta for Trademark Violation

A 12-year-old company called Meta has sued Meta, previously called Facebook, for infringing on its trademark. On Tuesday, the company announced this decision as plans to settle the matter privately with the conglomerate failed. This company is registered as a MetaX LLC but is often called Meta.

A report from the 12-year-old company reads,

"On October 28, 2021, Facebook seized our META mark and name, which we put our blood, sweat, and tears into building for over twelve years. Today, after eight months of trying to negotiate with Facebook in good faith to no avail, we were left with no choice but to file a lawsuit against them."

Meta cited some concerns that would affect its integrity and economy if left unaddressed. The company, argued that Meta violated several of its privacy, causing damage and confusion for its users.

The company further added,

"Consumers are likely to mistakenly believe that ['] goods and services emanate from [Meta Platforms] and that [] is associated with the toxicity that is inextricably linked with [Meta Platforms]."

However, the lawsuit may not yield much fruit for as Facebook has filed several trademarks ever since its rebranding to Meta.

Facebook Was Rebranded To Meta

Meta became the new name of Facebook after the company's decision in October 2021. This was due to the commitment of Mark Zuckerberg to pushing the platform towards metaverse reality.

The company committed a $10 billion investment to the campaign causing a heavy drop in profit during the last quarter of 2021 and a significant drop in stock price that is yet to be recovered. Nonetheless, Zuckerberg has projected that the company will spend more before the metaverse project can be fully achieved.
