Decentraland Announces New Game Jam Following Official SDK 7 Release
A new Decentraland Game Jam is making its way on June 19 to mark the official launch of SDK 7 that brings with it a new UI, improved performance & raycasts, and more. The competition will end on July 10.

The Decentraland Foundation has officially announced that they will be hosting a new game jam that will take place starting June 19, following the official release of SDK 7.
No specific details about the upcoming event have been revealed so far, other than that it’s on the Polygon network and that the starting date is June 19 while the ending date is July 10. It’s coming just in time to mark the celebration of the full release of SDK 7 that is now out of beta, bringing creators loads of cool new features and improvements to enjoy that all help make the development process easier.
While the new software development kit is out of alpha and beta, the announcement states that the “full potential of SDK 7 will be realized once the Decentraland Editor is complete and the two can be used in unison.” On its own though, the latest version brings with it various new features that improve overall workflow.
Among the new changes introduced with this new release is a whole new UI system that is based on FlexBox, allowing users to use dynamic HTML-like tags to create any user interface that they would like. According to the release notes, the latest UI comes with “handy abstractions” such as input box default types, dropdown and 9-slicing. Performance has been improved, and so have raycasts, while the introduction of the newest version of TypeScript (ES6) brings with it the option to use more features, such as the Map() function. A lot more external JavaScript and TypeScript libraries are now supported than ever before for use in Decentraland scenes.
It’s now possible to create an entity, such as an NPC, that can feature more than one button event, making it possible to give players different ways to interact with an NPC.
