News

American top food distribution company, Del Monte Foods, has shown interest in the Metaverse and NFTs. The production company has submitted eight metaverse and NFT-related trademark applications for two brand names: "DEL MONTE" and "The Del Monte Shield". Del Monte Foods is one of the popular US makers, distributors, and marketers of branded processed food, with an estimated annual sales of $1.8B.

Plans of Del Monte Foods in the Metaverse

Del Monte Foods filed the trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on October 5. In the application, the company provided detailed information about its ambition in the metaverse and NFTs. Popular trademark attorney, Michael Kondoudis ESQ, made a Twitter announcement about the trademark registration of Del Monte Foods. According to the tweet, Del Monte Foods will provide virtual goods, NFTs, online retail services, an online marketplace, and online virtual restaurants.

Furthermore, the company plans to provide entertainment services through non-downloadable virtual food and beverage products. Del Monte also plans to launch a unique software that would perform basic functions. These functions include uploading, changing, sharing, viewing, displaying, accepting and transmitting, publishing, storing, managing, verifying and authenticating, and communicating digital currency, and NFTs alongside other virtual items.

Several traditional companies are actively taking part in the Web3 space. Fortunately, Web3's mass adoption doesn't exclude the food industry. Del Monte Foods joins the list of several food brands in Web3 with its recent trademark registration. Prior to this, popular food brands like Hormel Foods, Mars, UTZ, Conagra Brands, Panera Bread, Wingstop, Panda Express, and McDonald's among others have registered trademarks to bring virtual food and drinks to the metaverse.
