The world of metaverse gaming is about to witness the digital reincarnation of the legendary rock and roll icon, Elvis Presley. The Sandbox, a leading metaverse platform, has announced the imminent release of 3,000 officially licensed NFT avatars dedicated to the King of Rock & Roll.
The Elvis Presley Legacy Council, an organization committed to promoting the music legend's legacy across online and blockchain platforms, initially announced these NFTs. These avatars will encapsulate Elvis's signature style, showcasing his iconic outfits, hairstyles, and dance moves. But the experience goes beyond mere digital collectibles. Owners of these avatars will also gain governance and voting rights within the Elvis Legacy Council DAO. Moreover, these NFTs will unlock additional features and in-game utilities in upcoming multiplayer experiences within The Sandbox.
NFT Sale Details
The NFTs, set to be minted on the Ethereum scaling network, Polygon, will have an exclusive 24-hour purchase window starting on August 9. This window is open to those on the allowlist and owners of specific NFT-based assets within The Sandbox. By August 11, all the avatars, spread across four rarity levels, will be unveiled. Each avatar is priced at 100 SAND, approximately $41 based on current rates. The council's vision is clear: "We believe in a world where Elvis fans participate and shape the direction and future of the Elvis Presley Digital Estate." They also have plans to collaborate with Decentraland, another major player in the metaverse arena.
Future Plans
This digital initiative aligns with a week-long celebration of Elvis Presley's life and work, commencing on August 9. The events, designed to resonate with younger generations, will feature live-streamed concerts, tribute contests, panel discussions, and a virtual tour of Elvis's iconic residence, Graceland.
Furthermore, The Sandbox has previously announced plans for an official Elvis Presley metaverse space, which will include a digital replica of Graceland and exclusive NFTs. This space will join other virtual lands owned by renowned entities like Slipknot, Snoop Dogg, McDonald’s, Adidas, and Gucci, emphasizing the metaverse's role in preserving cultural legacies in today's digital age.
