Farsite launching in Alpha on June 21
The sandbox MMO RTS is soon getting out of pre-alpha, introducing new features while tweaking some of the existing ones.
After months of pre-alpha testing, the sci-fi DeFi MMO RTS Farsite is getting ready to head into Alpha next month.
Planned to launch on June 21st this year, the alpha release is set to bring some changes to the game’s existing systems, while also adding some fun new features for players to enjoy. These tweaks include the removal of unlimited storage and cargo space – they’ll be limited from now on, requiring careful management. Pre-alpha players should enjoy free FTL flights while they still can because they’ll no longer be cost-free once the alpha is up and running, instead requiring payment in the form of Credits, a Layer 2 ERC-20 token that is burned in multiple ways.
An FTL Route Planner will be added to help players organize their space travels accordingly based on their needs. Due to the sheer complexity present in this game, the developers are also introducing new onboarding tutorials to help new players get acquainted with all the mechanics more easily.
With the alpha launch also comes the ability to conduct mining on various asteroids and comets, as well as the ability to manufacture your very own Ships and Modules. Apart from needing to be an owner of a Sector, a piece of land on a planet, and have a base built on it, you’ll also need the necessary Blueprint, that is, a crafting recipe for the Ship or Module you’d like to create. This also of course means various Components will be needed, and those are crafted using various resources scattered throughout the universe.
This Alpha launch will mark the start of Phase V on the game’s roadmap. The next one, Phase VI, currently does not have a specific time frame for release, but is set to include planet exploration, missions, and more.
