GALA Games Discontinues $TOWN After Almost Two Years of Town Star
Gala Games' CEO recently revealed in a detailed post on the official Discord channel that their popular Web3 farming game, Town Star, has undergone significant upgrades, particularly with enhancements to play-to-earn mechanisms.
Gala Games is finally discontinuing its token $TOWN after nearly two years. All $TOWN holders must swap their tokens for $GALA, which will serve as the primary token in this farming title. The decision is part of the Gala Games' goal to grow Town Star and better integrate it into the Gala ecosystem. After the update, the team will burn $GALA tokens used each time to buy items in Town Star.
Mark Skaggs will now lead the game. As per the CEO, his presence will really be beneficial for Town Star and Gala Games. Mark is well known as the founder of the Facebook game Farmville.
What will be different?
The team will swap all $TOWN for $GALA at a 2:1 exchange rate. The platform where participants can exchange will go live within the next 60 days. Regarding Town Star nodes, node holders will earn $GALA instead of $TOWN. Further, this will be accomplished through a burn-to-mint mechanism similar to Spider Tanks. Players must exchange their tokens within 180 days, or they will lose them.
Gala Games planned to publish a lite paper shortly on the Town Star's new play-to-earn mechanics, tokenomics, and other critical elements. Following the announcement, Gala Games indicated that there would be a playtest at the end of the month, with a final launch in February. The updated version will include the new earning option and other features such as NFT levelling, decoration, and more.
