Guild of Guardians Partners with 8 Esports Teams to Launch Exclusive In-Game Characters
The red-hot collab will see GoG launching limited edition in-game avatars representing each of the prominent esports teams.
What you need to know about Guild of Guardians' exclusive esports drop
Guild of Guardians (GoG), a popular blockchain mobile RPG, has teamed up with 8 prominent esports teams to launch exclusive in-game characters that represent the teams. These big names include Cloud9, Fnatic, NAVI, Ninjas in Pyjamas, NRG, SK Gaming, T1, and Team Liquid, of which many of them are the staple in famous competitive games like DOTA2 and League of Legends.
According to GoG, the Esports Exclusives NFT sale will be live to the public on February 8th, 6 pm EST, lasting for one week long. There will be 8 playable esports Legendary Heroes representing each team, with 16,000 Heroes up for grabs. Each of them will cost around $99, payable in Ethereum.
An Allowlist will be available for selected wallets to access the sale 24 hours before the public round. To get into that list, you must either be an existing GOG NFT holder or have completed all missions in a community challenge, which will be announced in the coming days.
No doubt, this is a historic first in the gaming world, as esports teams will be represented by in-game characters that players can own through blockchain technology. According to developer Stepico, owning an esports Hero brings multiple perks and benefits. Holders will be able to access special in-game rewards and exclusive leaderboard competitions, along with unique merch opportunities and VIP access to Web3 gaming events around the world.
In the lead-up to the sale, GoG will be hosting a range of community events allowing players to win tokens and NFT airdrops. In fact, the person who owns the most esports digital collectibles will get to design their own playable Hero or Pet in Guild of Guardians!
