Jaques Sermand Unveils Limited Edition Watch with NFT Partnership
This innovative collaboration with artist Marcel van Luit marks another example of luxury watch brands leveraging Web3 technology to enhance customer experiences and combat counterfeiting.

A Limited Edition Timepiece Paired with an NFT
Jaques Sermand, the renowned watchmaker, has launched a limited edition timepiece with only 365 units available for 2023. The release includes a distinctive NFT designed with contemporary artist Marcel van Luit, featuring an animated flipping effect. The NFT serves as a unique voucher, granting holders access to acquire the exclusive Jaques Sermand watch.
The NFT created by Marcel van Luit features iconic Swiss elements on the front, while the reverse side showcases a digital representation of the new Jaques Sermand blue watch. Buyers of the NFT can customize the digital watch by selecting a "memorable day" to be displayed. Beyond aesthetics, the NFT plays a critical role in verifying the authenticity of the timepiece, serving as proof of purchase.
The Growing Trend of Luxury Watches and Web3 Technology
Jaques Sermand joins a growing trend among luxury watch brands embracing Web3 technology to enhance customer experiences and address real-world challenges like counterfeiting. Hublot, a renowned Swiss luxury watchmaker, partnered with artist Takashi Murakami to create a unique collection of 13 timepieces intricately connected to NFTs earlier this year. Timex also collaborated with Daz 3D to offer limited-edition watches fully customizable by customers, each accompanied by an associated NFT.
Breitling, in October, launched the Super Chronomat Automatic 38 Origins, integrating an NFT to provide a transparent and verifiable solution for tracking the timepiece's chain of custody. With these initiatives, watch brands are tapping into the potential of Web3 to redefine the luxury watch market and engage customers in novel ways.
