Konami's Upcoming NFT Marketplace

Konami is setting plans to build its platform for trading in-game NFTs, and the company is hiring a wide range of talents. NFTs, for some while, have been working their way through to the gaming industry. However, some gamers have pushed back against this new technology's inclusion in their favorite titles. On the other hand, some companies believe that they are the gaming industry's future and, consequently, a step-up strategy for business.

Konami Group Corporation is a Japanese entertainment conglomerate and video game company. Even while it was reported that NFT sales plummeted in the first half of 2022, Konami is one of the companies that has openly shown interest in NFTs. This isn't Konami's first foray into the NFT space. In January, Konami celebrated the anniversary of Castlevania by selling a collection of NFTs related to the franchise.

The collection consisted mainly of GIFs from the first three Castlevania games and some fan art available for sale. Following the first step into the NFT world, the move to create an NFT trading platform seems like a much more involved endeavor.

More Details About Konami's Plans

In a recent press release, Konami mentioned its plans to provide new experiences utilizing Web3 and metaverse. One of these new experiences is the upcoming NFT marketplace, which Konami calls a unique distribution.

The team does not have a name or planned release date for the service because the platform is still in its early stages. However, Konami is looking to hire experienced personnel in multiple new positions to further strengthen the business.

However, some groups are unhappy, as a section of Konami fans expressed displeasure with the company's venture interest in the NFT market. Furthermore, Platinum Games back then in February also threw shades at Konami over NFTs.
