Meta Launches Meta Accounts and Horizon Profiles
Users can use their Facebook and Instagram accounts to create Meta accounts and start enjoying immersive experiences.

Meta announces Meta Account and Horizon Profiles
Meta has officially released Meta accounts and Horizon Profiles. Users can now create Meta accounts from social media accounts like Instagram and Facebook as they will be linked to the same Accounts Center. This will enable users to enjoy exciting experiences such as communicating with other users on Instagram and Facebook using VR.
The company said,
“The update will roll out globally gradually, so if you don’t have the option to create a Meta account and Meta Horizon profile right away, you’ll get the update soon.”
All users of Meta’s VR devices must create an account using the latest software on the Oculus app. Then they can customize their Horizon profile by adding a username, display name, and a personal avatar. This way, they become a part of the immersive community and start to enjoy 3D reality.
Meta is thinking of changing the term ‘Friends’ in the metaverse to ‘Followers,’ just like in Instagram and Facebook. To ensure account privacy, users will have three options: ‘Open to Everyone’, ’Friends and Family’, and ‘Solo’ all of which determine who can connect and see their accounts. Those who skip the privacy setup will have ‘Friends and Family’ as default, while individuals between the age of 13 to 17 will have their accounts set to private.
Other Developments by Meta
To strengthen this development, Meta has also collaborated with MINI and Fender to develop the MINIVerse and the Fender Stratoverse. Furthermore, it has incorporated NFTs into Instagram, opened a physical Meta Store to educate people on the metaverse, and launched a fashion avatar store. In addition, Meta applied various trademarks to embrace Web3 technologies and is expanding Horizon Worlds metaverse into European countries like Spain and France.
