Meta's NFT Sharing Function is Now Available to all US citizens

This is the final stage of the formal NFT deployment for Meta-owned applications. Instagram announced plans to offer in-app NFTs in May, and Facebook got on board in June.

Meta's growing interest in NFTs

Without a doubt, Meta is one of the top participants in Web3, with an investment of around $70 billion. The company has promised to spend $10 billion yearly to construct its Metaverse for at least 5 years.

However, its NFT effort seems to be gaining momentum faster due to agreements with web3 firms. Meta has recently partnered with Dapper Labs to allow NFT purchases through Instagram and Facebook.

When referring to NFTs, Meta uses the term digital collectibles, which are essentially digital representations of artwork, or JPEGs stored on the blockchain.

Also, the company cited a few artists who shared their digital works on Facebook and Instagram, including Elektra, an Instagram creator.

How Can Users Start Sharing Digital Collectibles?

Recently, Meta explained how users on Instagram and Facebook might start sharing digital collectables.

  • Updated Instagram and Facebook app versions are necessary.
  • A digital wallet with two-factor authentication must be installed on customers' devices. Currently, it supports Dapper, MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, Trust Wallet, and Rainbow.
  • Users may then link to their chosen wallet by going to the "digital collectables" option in settings in the Instagram and Facebook apps, at which point they may be requested for their wallet password. Meta warned that this procedure might take up to 5 minutes.
  • When this happens, users will get a message and may verify their wallet connection by clicking "Sign" and “OK.”

Those who have successfully linked their wallets to one or both applications may see their digital collections on Facebook or Instagram.
