With 6 options on the list, the Genopets team is asking the community to choose the next sport they want to earn Energy from.
Go ahead, vote for your favorite sports in Genopets
Although the full game is yet to launch, Genopets is already looking to add new sports to its mobile RPG. In a Twitter post on Thursday, the team listed 6 different sports, asking which fitness activity the community wants to earn Energy from. Choices include snowboarding, mountain climbing, surfing, jogging, swimming, and soccer.
Out of the 85 comments, the top 3 picks are soccer, swimming, and snowboarding. Some preferred other sports such as cycling or strength training instead. But why choose one when you can choose them all, right? As suggested by Twitter user @jules_manceau, it would be better for Genopets to allow multi-sports like MOVN, so users can earn as long as they work out.
How does Genopets work by default?
Genopets is a move-to-earn app with RPG elements. To get started, users will need to buy or summon NFT Genopets for themselves. By default, the app will only count steps taken by users before granting Energy points to them. Those who received these Energy points can convert them to XP or harvest KI tokens if they hold any NFT Habitats.
Given the simple mechanics, it is believed that Genopets is looking to add more variety to the game with a new sport. Since the game is still in Alpha, players can only farm KI tokens by staking GENE or holding onto their NFT Habitats. There won't be any move-to-earn gameplay until Genopets goes into public beta sometime this year.
Make no mistake, 2022 has been a busy year for Genopets. To illustrate, the team released GENE token staking and KI token in the last two months. And recently, the project even received backing from Samsung Next. What's left right now is the long-awaited launch of the move-to-earn gameplay in Genopets.
