Nine Chronicles' First PBFT Network Test is Launching Soon
The upcoming session will allow users to playtest Nine Chronicles on its new PBFT testnet.

What you need to know about the PBFT network test in Nine Chronicles
Nine Chronicles (9C), a blockchain RPG by Planetarium Labs, is ready to test out its new PBFT (Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance) network with the help of its community.
From January 3rd to 17th, those who downloaded the testnet client will be able to playtest Nine Chronicles on the PBFT network. According to the team, the goal is to see whether this testnet will provide a gaming experience similar to or equal to the one on mainnet.
But what is PBFT to begin with? According to Planetarium, PBFT is the foundation of Proof-of-Stake (PoS) and can be thought of as a simpler way of verifying transactions than Proof-of-Work (PoW). However, implementing this new consensus model often requires major changes to the network, which may result in bugs.
While it is possible to use automated programs and tools to perform basic verification, the team explains that it is quite challenging to inspect every part of Nine Chronicles just by using bots. That's where human gamers come into play.
Previous gameplay data based on a snapshot from block 5,623,822 will be provided to the client to enable smooth testing. Players can use their existing 9C accounts to log in, though all gameplay progress on the testnet will not be reflected on the mainnet.
By the end of the session, each tester will receive a survey form to fill in with their feedback and suggestions. Active players who generate at least 10 transactions per day will get the chance to receive 100 NCG each.
