Oxalis Games raises $4.5 million in seed round led by Blocore, featuring Animoca Brands, Supercell & more
The funding will go towards their debut title Moonfrost, a beautiful multiplayer 2D life sim RPG on the Solana network.
Other investors that participated include the following notable names: Animoca Brands, Clash of Clans developer Supercell, Pantera, Griffin Gaming Partners, Sweet Farm, co-founder of Games Workshop & Fighting Fantasy Sir Ian Livingstone, CEO of Runescape developer Jagex Phil Mansell, Soba Studios CEO Juha Paananen, co-founder of Famico Studios Daniel Engelhardt, Charles Songhurst and CEO of Aggero Cristian Manea.
The secured funds will be used to develop their debut title called Moonfrost, a cute multiplayer 2D life sim RPG. On the game's website in the FAQ section, the devs state that the upcoming PC and mobile title will be completely focused on PvE gameplay, though PvP is not totally ruled out, mentioning that PvE will be packed "with plenty of diverse content and satisfying progression- but who knows what the future holds!"
Moonfrost will run on the Solana network, and will have its own cryptocurrency called 'FROST' that will be entirely optional as stated in the FAQ.
The team consists of developers who have previously worked for companies such as Epic, Ubisoft, Unity and more, and is led by former co-founder of Bossa Studios and The Secret Police Ric Moore, as well as art director Gina Nelson, the latter previously working on Disney and Star Wars projects. Bossa Studios is known for physics-driven Surgeon Simulator, while The Secret Police is known for the Android of iOS version of farming simulator Stardew Valley.
