This recent addition to Splinterlands, officially known as Land Phase 0.5, allows landowners to finally receive an NFT representing their actual land plot(s). Before this, all players had were Land tokens, which made them eligible for a deed.

On December 12, the process of claiming land began. As a result, players can now trade in their land tokens for individual land deed NFTs that have not been surveyed. These documents show where a certain piece of land is in Praetoria. This is broken up by continent, territory, region, tract, and plot.

When a region or tract is claimed, the owner's tokens will be changed into tokens for a single plot, but all of those plots will still be in the same region or tract. One tract is made up of 100 plots, and a region is made up of 1,000 plots. In Praetoria, there are 150 different regions.

Where is my land?

Plots are now assigned sequentially rather than at random, beginning with region 1, the Pristine Northwest, in the upper left corner of the map.

The contract locates the next available space when a claim is made. It now locates the subsequent empty tract or region if the claim is for a tract or region. Moreover, players can group their plots together by submitting multiple claims at once.

After Region 1 is completely used up, it moves on to Region 2, and so forth. The claim interface will display the information that is currently available for the following plot.

Moving along, production is unaffected by geographic location. Even so, the likelihood that a plot in a particular region will contain a particular type of resource depends on which regions have more of that resource than others.

Unsurveyed Land Deeds, like current Land tokens, are still eligible for the ongoing SPS token airdrop. However, players will not be able to trade Land Deeds until the game market is updated early next year. Land claims will be accepted for at least a year.
