PUMA Enters the Metaverse and Web3 Space with Black Station in NYFW
PUMA is bringing Web3 technology to the New York Fashion Week (NYFW) at the Black Station. The name Black Station comes from PUMA’s 20 years old visual design think tank.
The inclusion of metaverse in this segment is a part of the comprehensive experience. It is here that the users can redeem NFTs for their In-Real-Life sneakers.
More About the Black Station
The Black Station is built with the Unreal Engine 5 portal, and the Shadowy Lobby provides visitors with three experiences. However, there is the option to burn Nitropass NFT for physical sneakers and access a customized experience. The third portal located in the lobby of Black Station will grant the visitors access to an interactive space.
This space has point cloud-style effects and will take the users through a digital adaptation of the show. Here the people accessing the portal also interact with the included pieces in the show. Further, PUMA’s Chief Brand Office, Adam Petrick, says, “Black Station was home to some of the company’s most innovative designs in fashion. The company is now pushing the boundaries between fashion and digital experiences, and it made sense to bring the name back.”
Going ahead, Black Station will hold the centerstage position for all Web3 and metaverse products and solutions.
Now Shoe Manufacturers are Getting into the Metaverse
With this move, PUMA officially steps into the metaverse portal, and it’s a large step for a company like PUMA. Besides this, other shoe manufacturers are also stepping into the metaverse.
Just last week, Nike scored big in terms of NFT sales. Nike, along with its subsidiary RTFKT amassed $185 million. Nike and RTFKT together are responsible for creating this NFT collection which is now highly successful and popular.
Before that, Nike and RTFKT purchased an ENS domain (dotswoosh.eth) for 19.72 ETH or $35,000. This is a big amount of money for buying a domain. Today RTKFT has 10 ENS domains in its wallet. All of these domains relate to the NFT collection produced partly by Nike.
Before this, Adidas launched an NFT collection along with Prada. This is the third collaboration between the two companies. However, the third collaboration is the first partnership between companies to combine the metaverse and NFTs.
