Rebel Bots has announced that they’ve decided to delay beta testing for their upcoming play-to-earn game, Xoil Wars.

The beta test, originally planned to start at the end of this month, has been pushed back by a couple of weeks, with no specific timeframe given this time around, as the team says that they want it to be “a positive surprise when ready.” After listening to community feedback for the demo of the game which launched back in late May, the developers realized their planned schedule does not fit in line with all the new changes they want to implement as a result of constructive feedback, causing the postponement. Another reason for the delay is that the company wants the best for its team and with most of the developers located in Ukraine, relocating them and their families to safety took time from game development, delaying progress for about 4 weeks. The team also enforces anti-crunch culture, which, while it may cause development to go slower, in the long run proves beneficial to both the team’s health and the quality of the game itself.

There will also be new features that originally weren’t planned to release around the same time as the beta version. This includes a card explorer coupled with a fighting bot build simulator to help players create their own strategies, as well as a guild database and profile system that allows guilds to present themselves to aspiring scholars looking to join a Xoil Wars guild. This also means that the developers are working on a user-friendly renting platform. All of this takes up more time than initially planned, but will ultimately help provide a better beta experience.

Backed by Ubisoft, Animoca Brands and Polygon Studios, among others, Xoil Wars is a play-to-earn 2D card game for web browsers and mobile devices where players create and control a team of fighting bots to battle each other in PvP while defeating aliens and completing daily challenges in PvE Adventure mode.
