Reebok joins other sports brands in the Metaverse
Upon authorization, the teams aim to provide virtual goods and services in the Web3 space.
Reebok's Debut into Web3
As the number of brands migrating to the Metaverse increases, Reebok has decided to join the gold rush. The American clothing and footwear brand has officially tendered two requisitions to sign its name into the metaverse. The official application was filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
The filing took place on Friday, the 18th of November. The submitted trademark application by the fitness company will grant the brand official access to the ranks of other sports companies. These sports companies have already made their way through to the metaverse. Some of these top companies include Nike and Adidas.
After ratifying the brand's trademark applications, they intend to offer virtual commodities such as clothing, headwear, bags, footwear, sports equipment, accessories, bag packs, art, toys, eyewear, and many more. In addition, Reebok also intends to deliver sports-related multimedia files containing audio, text, video, and art for the metaverse.
Furthermore, the company would introduce their Reebok-backed Non-fungible tokens(NFTs) into the virtual world. In addition, an online NFT marketplace where buyers and sellers can access the NFT-backed digital art images and video clips would be provided. The American company would also feature a retail store service where virtual merchandise and commodities are available for consumer sales.
Other Sports Companies in the Metaverse
Before Reebok's move into the Metaverse, Nike and Adidas were the dominant markets through their NFT and metaverse innovations and ambitions. One of the ways Nike has shown dominance in the metaverse is through the launch of Nikeland. Nikeland is a specially designed Metaverse location that uses the Roblox platform.
However, Reebok remains undaunted and has already made its way to the NFT and Metaverse space to reinstate its ambitions and innovations. Before this, the renowned footwear bread had also gained some experience in the Web3 space.
