Roblox Refutes Claims of XRP Payment Support
Roblox has categorically denied the integration of XRP payments, underscoring that circulating rumours are without merit.

Misinformation tends to spread on social media platforms. Recently Roblox, a gaming platform found itself in the midst of such a situation. The rumors originated from a tweet, by BitPay, a payment processing company. The tweet suggested that Ripples XRP token might be used for Xsolla payments in games on Roblox. However, the tweet was quickly deleted. Despite its removal, the rumours had already caused people to believe that Roblox was planning to incorporate XRP into its payment options.
“Xsolla now accepts XRP with BitPay as a payment method for their games such as Smite and Roblox,” BitPay wrote in a now-deleted post. “You can use your favorite cryptocurrency to buy, play, and enjoy gaming like never before,” the post claimed.
Roblox promptly addressed these speculations. Clarified its position. The company categorically stated that there was no truth to the information about partnering with BitPay to introduce XRP to its users. A spokesperson from Roblox further explained that although Xsolla is indeed a payment partner the platform does not support cryptocurrency transactions like Bitcoin or XRP. A quick look at how Roblox's purchased on the Roblox platform confirms this as payment methods such, as credit cards, debit cards PayPal are available.
BitPay and Xsolla Share Their Perspectives
Recognizing the mistake Bill Zielke, Chief Marketing Officer of BitPay indicated that although the tweet was incorrect they can anticipate announcements, about merchants embracing cryptocurrencies. Xsolla also clarified its involvement in the situation. The company emphasized its range of payment solutions for developers across platforms with BitPay being one option among many.
Xsolla made it clear that they are not connected to the tweet from BitPay. It's worth noting that Xsolla provided a gift card solution for Roblox in 2020 and is acknowledged as a payment provider on Roblox's platform. Apart from Roblox Xsolla extends its services to gaming companies like Valve and Epic Games.
The Ripple Effect of a Single Tweet
This incident highlights how influential a single tweet can be in today's interconnected world. A simple post regardless of its accuracy has the potential to trigger a chain reaction resulting in beliefs and assumptions. In such an environment companies bear the responsibility to promptly address and correct any misunderstandings so that their user base remains well-informed and unaffected, by rumours.
