Shrapnel Eyes Early Access December Launch on the Epic Games Store
Shrapnel is slated to launch in early access in December on the Epic Games Store and will be available for players who own an Extraction Pack.
Shrapnel, a first-person extraction shooter, has officially been listed on the Epic Games Store, where it is set to launch in early access in December 2023.
Shrapnel Early Access Details
Unlike the full game, which will be free-to-play, playing the early access version of Shrapnel will require owning an Extraction Pack. This acts as a key to the early playable phase of the blockchain title, through which you’ll unlock exclusive cosmetics, consumables, and more. According to an announcement providing info on Extraction Packs, the studio is gifting all operator holders with the highest-tier Extraction Pack as a way to reward their biggest supporters. Everyone who signs up for an account on the game’s official website will be in contention to potentially win one too.
Aside from that, details are scarce on these crucial assets for the game’s early access period for the time being. The reason behind introducing them is so that the developers can control the total number of players playing during this period in an effort to make sure queue times and latency do not hinder the overall experience, slowly onboarding more players during early access. Pricing and other details will be revealed in the future.
What is Shrapnel?
Shrapnel is a skill-based first-person extraction shooter currently in development on Unreal Engine 5 by a team of BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning talent. Set in a not too distant future, you play as MEF (Mercenary Extraction Force) Operator who collects a mysterious substance called Sigma while surviving long enough for an extraction. Reach the extraction point with the Sigma you collected alive, otherwise you’re out. Participate in the game’s creator ecosystem by creating maps, skins, and more. The game is scheduled to fully launch sometime in 2024.
