All about the Invincible collab between Skybound Entertainment x The Sandbox
The Sandbox, a leading metaverse platform, has teamed up with Skybound Entertainment's popular comic book turned-TV show, Invincible. Later this year, a virtual gaming experience based on the superhero will be launched on a Skybound LAND in The Sandbox.
Invincible tells the story of Mark Grayson, a teenager who is just like every other kid his age – except that his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet. As Mark develops his own powers, the first-born son of Omni Man has to find ways to cope with his superhuman strength and the reality of his origins.
Written by Robert Kirkman and illustrated by Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley, Invincible debuted to critical acclaim on January 22nd, 2003. During its fifteen-year run, the comic book ran for 144 issues and spawned multiple spin-off series. In 2021, the animated series of Invincible arrived on Amazon Prime and quickly became one of the most popular streaming series. Invincible, soon to celebrate its 20th anniversary, continues to grow in popularity and remains a cornerstone of pop culture.
This is not the first time Skybound and The Sandbox have worked together. Back in 2014, Invincible was featured in the original 2D pixel mobile version of The Sandbox, with the duo collaborating again in 2022, bringing The Walking Dead franchise to life in Alpha Season 3. Those who have participated in Alpha S3 would have surely come across the popular "A Day in Alexandria" and "Stay Alive" experiences.
As of writing, there are not many details about the new Invincible experience. Fans can, however, expect this collaboration to include multiple IPs under Skybound Entertainment. For more info, check out the official post here.
