Horizon Blockchain Games, the game studio behind the free-to-play trading card game Skyweaver have released the first major card expansion called Clash of Inventors.

This new expansion adds 50 new cards to the game – 10 cards (6 units and 4 spells) for each Prism. These new cards cannot be bought, but are instead earned by playing the game, just like the regular base cards of which there are over 500 available to unlock. There are also 3 new “uncollectible ‘token’ cards that can be generated by other cards and effects”.

A Dash Trait has been introduced, which means that if a card has that specific trait, they are unable to attack the opposing Hero straight away on the same turn it is summoned, but are able to attack the opponent’s cards placed on the battlefield.

Skyweaver is a free-to-play play-to-own card game available on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iOS devices. It can also be played on PC directly from the browser. Choose two of five different Prisms to define your Hero and playstyle: Strength, Agility, Wisdom, Heart and Intellect. Unlock unit and spell cards and create your own deck as you level up and make your way to the top of the leaderboards, with a weekly ranked reward system in place that allows skilled players to win Silver cards. Silver cards are tradable NFTs that can be won in the Ranked game mode, which is split into two types: Discovery and Constructed. The former gives you a random deck of cards based on the Hero you choose, while the latter lets you build your own deck once you’ve unlocked enough cards.

There are also rarer cards than Silver ones called Gold NFT cards, which can be earned in the Conquest game mode, where players must go on a three-match winning streak in order to win a limited edition Gold card alongside a Silver card. If two matches are won in a row instead of three, then the player is awarded with 2 Silver cards, while winning only one match earns the player 1 Silver card. To play Conquest, players must have a Conquest ticket, which can be purchased for $1.5 USDC but can also be gained by converting a Silver card into the ticket.

The game is currently in open beta, with a second major card expansion called Hexbound Invasion planned to come out in October this year.
