Soccerverse Beta 4 launches on Polygon
News

Previously known as Soccer Manager Elite, the Beta 4 of Soccerverse, an on-chain soccer management MMO, has officially launched on the Polygon network.

Playable as a browser title on PC but also on mobile devices and tablets using the MetaMask browser on the MetaMask app, players need at least 2 Wrapped CHI ($WCHI) and some MATIC to get started. 1 WCHI is needed to make a Xaya Name, which is a public username, and another one is needed to either purchase a Share Pack or the in-game currency, SMC, while MATIC is used to cover transaction fees. A Share Pack consists of 100 shares spread across 5 different clubs, meaning 20 shares per club.

In this decentralized blockchain title, players can take on various roles, including being a manager, club shareholder, player agent or player shareholder. There are a total of 300 clubs which act as DAOs and are controlled by shareholders. There are more than 11k soccer players that can be traded via a decentralized auction system. These players act as fractionalized NFTs, as they are not only controlled by managers and agents, but also by those who have bought shares in the players. These club and player shares are tradable via in-game decentralized exchanges.

There are 15 different leagues, with 20 clubs included in every league. Matches in the league take place every Wednesday and Saturday at 3PM UTC, with the first league matches set to be played tomorrow on August 13th. Cup and Shield matches are played on Mondays at 3PM UTC.

Soccerverse uses Xaya blockchain-agnostic technology to “allow for highly complex computational game logic.” Xaya is an open-source gaming blockchain designed for creating decentralized, serverless crypto games, with the mineable native token $CHI at its core for transaction mining fees and more.

The new beta version now allows club shareholders who have more than 0.001% of the club’s shares to propose a manager, while over 10% of a player’s shares are needed in order to propose an agent. This beta also includes a chat system, the ability to set contract lengths alongside other options as an agent, a “Free Bench” featuring players for managers to bid on and more.

For more info on the new changes, check out the official post here.

The full, official release is planned to release in Q1 2023, and while assets in the beta will not carry over, some form of airdrop may be given to those who participate in beta testing, with participation being “based on purchases of SMC (the in-game currency) and share purchases, end share and SMC balances, and contributions to improving the state of the Soccerverse.”
