Sorare Releases Season 2 Card Updates
News

Sorare, an NFT-based free-to-play basketball game, has newly introduced the all-new digital player cards in 3D with augmented reality interactivity. The new season cards will officially be launched on Tuesday, 17th of October.

Season 2 Card Launch

The 2023-2024 cards will be launched on the marketplace, and the lobby will be made open with the first competitions of the new season. However, the team has announced that all season 1 cards will cease circulation after the launch date. Alongside the launch of the Season 2 cards, Sorare NBA has also released the new card scarcity amounts and name rebrand. All non-common cards, including Limited, Rare, Super Rare and Unique Cards, are now called “Pro Cards.”

Furthermore, the creative team for the 2023-2024 cards was spearheaded by the Sorare Design team. The creative process drew inspiration from the exquisite design principles of the renowned product designer Dieter Rams. Fortunately, the aim of seamlessly melding basketball elements with elegant designs yielded a minimalist aesthetic with input from both the Sorare NBA managers and fans around the world.

In addition to the new scarcity changes, the team also introduced new aesthetics to the 2023-2024 cards. This was in a bid to reinforce and celebrate the collectible aspect of the cards visually. Other new additions to the cards include Jersey match special badges, country flags and so on.

Season 2 Rookie Card Listings

The team also decided not to mint any of the 2023 NBA lottery picks and Chet Holmgren until the week 2 lineups are locked. This was in a bid to prevent rookies with a last 10-game average of zero (L10) from significantly impacting scores and also to uphold the fairness of the Game Week 1 for every manager. However, the 2023 lottery picks would not be available until Game Week 3, allowing managers to enhance their Game Week 1 lineups.
