Sorare Shares Overview on New MLB Offseason Update
The new Sorare: MLB offseason update will feature new card auctions, Special Edition Cards based on players with award-winning seasons, and more.

With Sorare: MLB Season 2 soon ending, the fantasy sports platform has shared an overview on what we can expect to see included in the upcoming new offseason update.
Update Details
The new update is set to include new card auctions, Special Edition Cards and a tweaked Collection Game. A change has been made regarding offseason XP – cards can now no longer gain XP in the offseason. While it was possible after the first season, the developers state that back then, it “was done to help cards “catch up” due to the inaugural launch occurring mid-season,” which is why they won’t be doing that again.
Just like it was done upon beginning Season 2, the same will happen for the third season: all existing Common Cards will be retired. Pro Cards, that is, NFT assets that include Limited, Rare, Super Rare, and Unique, will of course continue to belong to you for use, with Sorare clarifying that they will “never remove them from your collection.”
New Card Auctions & Special Edition Cards
Expect new card auctions to make their way throughout the offseason, with the update post stating that, while they may slow down during the offseason, the team is committed to always keeping a minimum of 24 player cards listed.
In celebration of the MLB end-of-season award winners, the Marketplace is getting some Special Edition Cards focused on commemorating players with award-winning seasons and those who helped managers get rewards in every Game Week. Additional details on these “Award Edition Cards” will be provided by the platform in the future.
Tweaked Collection Game
The Collection Game is getting some slight changes in comparison to what it was like when it first launched a few months ago, with the team deciding to now group Collections by team, season and scarcity from here on out in order to enable a “more organized and strategic approach.”
Once Collection Game kicks off in Season 3, every card will feature a Collection Score that is determined based on the following factors:
- Owned: The card is located in your collection
- 90d: The card has not been listed or transferred in the last 90 days
- New Card: You are the first owner
- Special: The card has a special edition design
- #1 Serial Number: The first card minted
- Jersey #: Serial number matches the player’s jersey number
