Splinterlands Reveals New Chaos Legion Soulbound Reward Cards
Splinterlands will be getting 43 new Chaos Legion reward cards, launching as soulbound cards on January 31st.

The developers of Splinterlands have recently revealed details on the upcoming set of new Chaos Legion reward cards, which will launch as soulbound. This means that these 43 new cards will not be tradable, transferrable, burnable nor rentable at launch, though at some point they will end up becoming unbound once the cards “go out of print.”
The reason to introducing soulbound reward cards is that the team wants their trading card game to be “more engaging” and that they want to encourage players to focus on long-term growth of their accounts instead of focusing on short-term reward farming. They won’t stay soulbound forever though, making this sort of system as like a kind of a form of NFT staking, allowing players to eventually do whatever they want with them.
Scheduled to launch at the end of this month on Tuesday, January 31st, the new reward cards will replace the old ones in the new loot chests, thus making the old reward cards no longer possible to mint. Season reward chests gained from the current season will however still have the old reward cards, as it’s only the chests earned after the launch of the new set that will feature the new reward cards.
Soulbound reward cards were unveiled to be coming this first quarter in the game’s new 2023 roadmap. For more detailed information on these new cards, check out the official blog post from the developers here.
