Following community feedback, the Star Atlas team has unveiled the third generation of the Ship Configuration system.

What’s new in Ship Configuration V3?

The announcement of the newest version of the Ship Configuration system addresses 3 key points as a result of community feedback, with the first point being that ship descriptions didn’t match configuration. This has been adjusted appropriately with the latest Galactic Marketplace patch, so all ship configurations should now properly match their ship descriptions, with the developers stating that other adjustments have also been made “to remove mentions of oversized components and instead mention higher quality components.”

The second point is that components were counterproductive to manufacturer bonuses. As a result, the team has decided to remove the entire component variance table, meaning that all components in core component slots will be the same class as the ship is. This does not apply to weapon slots, and ships will still have the option to slot components from Tier 0 to Tier 5, with higher tier components providing better enhancements but using up more power and generating more heat in the process. With the significant new change, most of the manufacturer bonuses will now apply to the component itself, with the developers looking to make matching bonuses for components that match the ship manufacturer in order to create “a significant amount of options and complexity for build crafting.”

The third and last point addressed is that the pricing wasn’t consistent with manufacturer premia and bonuses. To remedy this, certain ships “that were worse off than their intra-class counterparts” are getting buffed, with the buffs being upgraded components. The table below shows the component point upgrades each ship on the list will be given “in order to match its V2 performance with its origination price.”
