Tencent, Huawei, and Epic Games Join Forces to Establish an Institute for Promoting Virtual Reality
It’s a new leap of humankind into virtual reality. Three big companies, including Tencent, Huawei, and Epic Games, along with several academics and professionals, are joining forces.
The purpose is to conduct research and promote virtual reality interaction. The resultant organization is named Metaverse and Virtual Reality Interaction Joint Research Institute.
Globally Renowned Organization in the Making
The Metaverse and Virtual Reality Joint Research Institute have the backing of three renowned companies. Well-known academicians and experts in technology will form the academic committee. To support this, business leaders of the field and experts will be a part of the advisory committee.
As of now, Professor Zhao Xing (Bog Data Research at the University of Fudan) is the dean of the new institute. Mr Lu Changqi is the principal consultant tasked with supervising the building’s construction. The institute will have its headquarters in Shanghai.
Mr Lu Changqi is the acting director of Fudan University and supervisor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Both the academicians will play a pivotal role in the establishment of the new institute.
World Renowned Companies and Institutes are Coming Together
Besides Tencent Interactive Entertainment, Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd., and Epic Games (Unreal Engines), other organizations are also a part of this arrangement. These are Fudan University, China Mobile Migu, Peking University, Renmin University, Zhejiang University, Nanjing University, and a few others who are also a part of the organization.
In addition to these, other relevant institutes of the country’s reputed universities will act as co-construction units. Among all the others, China Mobile Migu Video Technology Co. is going to be a leading research unit for the new institute.
