The metaverse has garnered interested from a wide range of different people, including celebrities. Here are some of the biggest celebrities to have invested in the metaverse so far: Snoop Dogg, Paris Hilton, and Blackpink.
Snoop Dogg - The rapper has been invested into NFTs and metaverse for quite some time, and is perhaps the most prominent celebrity to show such significant interest in the nascent space. He is particularly known for owning a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT, specifically Bored Ape #6723, which he calls Dr. Bombay. He is so invested in his non-fungible token that he has in fact recently launched an ice cream brand called Dr. Bombay Ice Cream. He’s also a partner for The Sandbox, which includes 10k Snoop Dogg metaverse avatars called The Doggies.
Paris Hilton – The fashion icon has built her own virtual Malibu mansion in The Sandbox last year, and even registered trademarks for “Queen of the Metaverse” and “Cryptoween.” She’s done other things in the voxel-based metaverse too, such as hosting a 2-week Halloween party last year, while launching a Valentine’s Day experience called Parisland this year.
Blackpink – The popular K-pop group are no strangers to these virtual worlds, as they've been dabbling in the metaverse for quite a while now, joining the metaverse platform ZEPETO as avatars in 2020, and even holding a virtual fan event there which gathered millions of fans. Last year, they held a series of in-game concerts for PUBG Mobile, for which they won the “Best Metaverse Performance” award at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).
