As we near the end of July, here’s a recap at some of the biggest crypto, Web3, and metaverse-related news that has happened this month so far.

Ubisoft Expands in Web3, Joins Cronos as a Blockchain Validator – After announcing Champions Tactics near the end of last month, the Assassin’s Creed publisher and developer continues their attempts to grow and make an impact in the world of Web3, this time by joining the Cronos ecosystem as a node validator.

Google Play Store Issues NFT-Friendly Policy, Opens Up to Web3 Games – Perhaps the biggest news for blockchain gaming this month, Google is set to introduce a huge new policy in December that will officially allow games to have NFTs on the Play Store, so long as developers properly clarify on their game’s page that their title uses blockchain technology while adhering to a few other limitations.

Ripple Secures Partial Win in SEC Court Fight Over XRP – A huge decision was made by U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres, who determined that XRP is not a security when purchased publicly on exchanges, while tokens bought in private sales are a security. The fight is still not over though, but if this decision remains, it could set a significant precedent for the future of cryptocurrencies.

LINE NEXT Teams Up with SEGA to Bring a Classic Game to Web3 – Despite saying that “play-to-earn is boring,” SEGA is not completely done with Web3 yet, as LINE NEXT signed an MOU with the Sonic company in order to bring a classic game to the GAME DOSI Web3 gaming platform.
