The Sandbox Announces Heroes vs. Villains Game Jam with 50K $SAND Prize Pool
The Sandbox has launched the Heroes vs. Villains Game Jam, challenging creators to develop a game based on the theme of good vs. evil, with a prize pool of 50k $SAND available to the top 10 winners as well as to up to 10 winners in 3 different categories: Honorable Mention, Rising Star, and Best Newcomer.

The Sandbox is back with another creative competition for experienced and aspiring developers to enjoy, this time announcing the Heroes vs. Villains Game Jam. This follows up on the Heroes vs. Villains VoxEdit contest which kicked off in June and ended last month.
For this contest, the goal is to create a game on the theme of the “age-old conflict between heroes and villains.” No specific IP is given nor allowed for this game jam, so while you may take inspiration from an IP, you’re not allowed to use any copyrighted “characters, names, people, logos, and other copyrighted material.” Essentially, this competition lets you get imaginative with your own take of good vs. evil, with your entry requiring having at least 5 minutes of gameplay and a minimum of 25 unique assets. Gameplay includes elements that “drive players towards a goal, which may include quests, missions, crowd events, etc.” Quests that involve sending players to collect items scattered across the whole map do not count into the game length, due to being an easy way of extending gameplay time as a result of having a lot of time spent walking and running about throughout environments.
This game jam comes with a prize pool of 50k $SAND, allocated to the top 10 winners as well as up to 10 winners in 3 different categories. The winner of the game jam will receive 10k $SAND. The top 5 winners need to have completed KYC, or be classified as “Verified Creators.” As for the 3 different categories, they are the following: Honorable Mention, Rising Star, and Best Newcomer. If the judges pick you in one of these categories, you’ll be able to earn 1000 $SAND.
Interested participants have until August 27th at 3 PM UTC to submit their entries.
Detailed information on participation can be found in the announcement post linked in the tweet down below.
