The Sandbox Celebrates 1,000 Days of Metaverse Play with LAND Owners
The metaverse giant is giving out 2.6 million SAND in total to LAND owners who have supported The Sandbox ecosystem since its inception.
LAND owners get rewarded in honor of The Sandbox's 1,000th day of metaverse play
On December 4th, 2019, The Sandbox launched its first NFT LAND sale, kicking off an exciting journey of building out its ever-growing metaverse with millions of users and creators. To celebrate the 1,000th day of its metaverse play on August 30th, 2022, The Sandbox has given out 2.6 million SAND to eligible LAND owners as a token of gratitude.
This time, the rewards are distributed to LAND owners on the Polygon network. A snapshot was taken on August 30th, 2022, at 1 pm (UTC), with SAND rewards calculated based on land type, holding time, and whether the LAND is bridged to Polygon at the time of the snapshot.
As seen below, having a plot of Regular LAND will grant the owner at least 20 SAND, while a Premium one will grant 30 SAND. Those who manage to hold onto their plots for at least 180 days will get a 1.1x boost, while those holding longer than 365 days will get a 1.15x boost. If the LAND is bridged to Polygon, plot owners will receive another 1.2x boost.
For instance, if you're holding one Regular LAND for 300 days bridged to Polygon, you can claim: 20 SAND x 1.1 x 1.2 = 26.4 SAND. Starting October 25th, all qualified users can claim their SAND by clicking "Check your Claim" on the Profile section after logging into The Sandbox account.
Of course, this is not the first time the metaverse giant openly rewarded LAND owners with SAND airdrops. In May, The Sandbox rolled out a new roadmap indicating plans to allocate more giveaways and incentives to LAND holders. Last month, the company announced an exclusive SAND staking program for LAND owners after allowing them to bridge their digital plots to Polygon in June.
