The Sandbox Unveils Open Publishing and 100M SAND Game Maker Fund at Global Creators Day
With open publishing, all LAND owners can publish their virtual experiences without going through the application process. The Game Maker Fund will also support even more creators with a DAO-based selection system.

The Sandbox (TSB), a leading metaverse platform, made significant announcements during its first Global Creators Day in Hong Kong. The event showcased the platform's commitment to empowering creators and expanding its user-generated content (UGC) offerings.
One of the most notable announcements was the opening of TSB to all LAND owners to publish their virtual experiences. This move eliminates the previous application process, allowing creators to share their content instantly. This crucial step intends to drive UGC development and unleash the creative potential of game producers.
Furthermore, The Sandbox introduced a new version of its Game Maker (0.9), expected before the end of 2023. This update will bring new gameplay mechanics, templates, and social interactions, simplifying content production and enhancing the player experience.
The company also unveiled the 100M SAND Game Maker Fund, set to launch in 2024. Building on the success of the existing fund, it will support even more creators with a DAO-based selection system that rewards creators for their content creation and the engagement it generates within the platform. This approach aligns with TSB's focus on promoting engaging experiences in the metaverse.
During the event, The Sandbox reaffirmed its vision of providing a new form of engaging entertainment for users. They highlighted the platform's growth, including the launch of eight new cultural and geographical neighborhoods in 2023 and the sale of over 125,000 LAND parcels, representing 75% of its map.
The platform's commitment was also evident, with plans to invite top IPs and celebrities to launch experiences on IP LANDS. The first partnership announced was with Avenged Sevenfold, with more than 30 contests planned throughout the year.
With over five million registered wallets, 800 global partners, and a 20% year-on-year increase in playtime per user, The Sandbox is poised for mass adoption as it prepares to launch its mobile version in 2024. The platform's goal is to onboard the next billion users into a decentralized metaverse, making it accessible to everyone.
