The Sandbox has unveiled its latest roadmap update for September 2023, revealing exciting developments for LAND owners worldwide. Here's a comprehensive look at the highlights:
Neighborhoods: Fostering Community and Experiences
This quarter, The Sandbox introduced "neighborhoods" within its metaverse. These areas serve as focal points for activations and aim to achieve several goals, including fostering network effects between brands and users, enabling storytelling across the ecosystem, and enhancing the events experience. Neighborhoods come in two varieties: those based on location themes (e.g., Kverse for K-culture) and entertainment themes (e.g., gaming or fashion). The plan is to release more than 5,000 new LANDs in 2023 across 6–9 LAND sales.
Improving LAND Owner Features: Stand Out and Publish
The Sandbox is committed to elevating the experience for LAND owners through three key pillars: "Stand Out," "Own Utility," and "Increase Impact."
- Stand Out: Features exclusive to premium LAND owners, like special vignettes on the map and strategic locations near famous brands and celebrities, are in the works. There will also be ways for any experience to be featured on The Sandbox website, exclusive seasons, bonuses, and dedicated activities in collaboration with IPs and brands.
- Own Utility: The biggest release of 2023 will be "publishing," allowing all LAND owners to launch experiences on the map. This democratizes content creation and adds significant utility to LAND tokens, moving The Sandbox closer to its vision of becoming a fully decentralized ecosystem.
LAND Ecosystem Updates
LAND owners in The Sandbox now number over 23,500 members, thanks to fair and transparent LAND sales that have brought new people into the ecosystem. With 2,000+ LANDs released in H1 2023, the community's support is evident. In Q1 2023 alone, there were 3,600+ transactions on the secondary market, with an average holding period of 221 days.
Starting soon, LAND owners who have held their LAND for at least 90 days will benefit from monthly NFT claims, providing additional value to long-term holders.
Additionally, a teaser for The Sandbox's upcoming catalyst (CATS) system reveals exciting possibilities for LAND owners. CATS will introduce Layer2 ERC1155 tokens with in-game effects, offering minting capabilities and rarity definitions.
