The Walking Dead: Empires Announces Dates for Public Pre-Alpha Playtest
Get ready to slay some walkers and experience the thrilling gameplay of The Walking Dead: Empires in the upcoming playtest.
The Walking Dead: Empires is launching a public pre-alpha playtest
One of the flagship games of Gala Games, The Walking Dead: Empires, will launch a public pre-alpha playtest from August 30th at 12:00 PT to September 1st at 12:00 PT. According to the team, everyone is welcome to join and kill some walkers for free.
To start off, The Walking Dead: Empires is an upcoming blockchain survival MMORPG made by Ember Entertainment on Gala Games. Taking inspiration from AMC's The Walking Dead series, the game features fast-paced gameplay where players must do whatever it takes to survive the zombie apocalypse.
In the playtest itself, players will spawn into an open world with nothing but default tools/weapons in their hands. The first thing they need to do is gather resources and build a base out of them quickly while fending off walkers in the surroundings. One thing's for sure, there's no time to rest in The Walking Dead: Empires. Thus, players have to form alliances to improve their chances of survival.
If you haven't seen it, you can check out what the playtest looks like on The Walking Dead: Empires Discord channel. (Hint: Look for the latest post by SuperBoy.)
How does play-to-earn work in The Walking Dead: Empires?
There are not many details yet. But the idea is that players who took part in The Walking Dead: Empires game will receive DeadCoins in return. The devs also promised to come up with a free-to-play mode that will contain P2E mechanics in the future.
Even so, those looking to gain an edge in their fight for survival can choose to buy some in-game NFTs. It could be an NFT land to build a base. Or an NFT crafting station to make useful tools and supplies. Players could even enlist NFT Heroes, which resemble the iconic characters from The Walking Dead series, to help out.
